Duties

  • Manage a caseload based on assigned jurisdictions.
  • Conduct evidentiary hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Meet with clients to discuss discovery and negotiate plea agreements.
  • Communicate with prosecutors, judges, and court representatives.
  • Participate in docket calls in state and municipal courts.
  • Perform legal investigations and prepare necessary documents.
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients and assist in signing them up.
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues to resolve cases.
  • Analyze legal disputes, provide counsel, and negotiate on behalf of clients.
  • Ensure that all case files are updated and accessible to other team members.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Missouri.
  • Strong typing and technology skills (proficient in Word, Excel, database software, and Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent people skills.
  • Flexible, with good judgment and discretion.
  • An Illinois law license is a plus, but not required.
  • Satisfactory results in relevant assessments.
  • A self-starter with a strong desire to learn and grow in the field of criminal defense.

Certifications
