Job Overview:

A law firm in Billings, MT is seeking a skilled and experienced Railroad Litigation Attorney to join their team. This position offers immediate experience in client interactions, depositions, court appearances, and business development. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in railroad civil litigation cases.
  • Take and defend facts and expert depositions.
  • Engage and prepare experts, including expert disclosures and reporting.
  • Handle all facets of pre-trial discovery, preparation, and motions.
  • Manage large document production and database matters.
  • Schedule and handle payment claims.
  • Conduct and lead first-chair mediations and trials/arbitrations, preferred.
  • Interact directly with insurance claims representatives for case assessment, evaluation, and strategy.
  • Manage and delegate tasks to paralegals.
  • Draft publications, articles, or legal presentations, preferred.
  • Develop and implement marketing and business development strategies.
  • Travel as required for case management and client meetings.

Requirements:

  • Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Montana.
  • 2+ years of experience in defending railroad civil litigation cases.
  • Strong case management skills with a proven ability to handle complex cases.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional research and writing abilities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Experience in interviewing and meeting with client representatives.
  • Experience with all facets of pre-trial discovery, motions, and document production.
  • First chair mediation and trial/arbitration experience preferred.
  • Schedule and payment claim experience preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • License to practice law in Montana.

Skills:

  • Strong work ethic and proven case management skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to travel and handle own files/matters effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
