Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a highly skilled Labor and Employment Associate to join its Washington, DC office. This full-time, partnership-track position offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation and labor law matters. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience (class years 2018-2021), a strong academic background, and excellent analytical and writing skills. Experience in big law or class action matters is a plus. Active membership in the DC Bar or eligibility to waive in is required.

Location:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in various labor and employment matters, including discrimination, wage and hour issues, and wrongful termination cases.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Advise clients on labor law issues, including compliance, regulatory matters, and dispute resolution.
  • Manage and litigate employment law cases from inception through trial, including depositions, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on strategy and case preparation.
  • Stay up to date with changes in labor and employment law, and incorporate new developments into ongoing cases.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on litigation.
  • Strong academic record from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with class action cases or large law firm background preferred.
  • Active membership in the DC Bar or eligibility to waive in.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication and client relationship management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active DC Bar membership or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficient in labor and employment law, including litigation and compliance issues.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Experience with class actions, regulatory matters, and compliance issues.
  • Excellent oral advocacy and client communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and meet deadlines effectively.
