Senior Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA, is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a dedicated team of Criminal Defense Attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires substantial experience in handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and manage a personal caseload.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents pertaining to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings, advising clients on the best strategies following each hearing.
• Manage all aspects of court appearances, including trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and performing legal research.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents and current case law.
• Handle workload effectively, ensuring timely management of cases and client interaction.
• Provide detailed legal analysis to clients to identify possible benefits and risks of their cases.
• Accumulate additional evidence to support clients' cases or counter the prosecution’s charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and determine key goals of case strategy by gathering information from witnesses and experts.
• Collaborate with team members to strategize and work collectively on complex cases.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in criminal defense, with a proven track record in handling complex cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism.
• Strong ability to manage multiple cases and maintain effective client communication.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze legal precedents and apply them to case strategies.
• Proven experience in drafting legal documents, managing court appearances, and conducting comprehensive legal research.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California.
