Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation and Enforcement: Represent clients in environmental litigation matters, including enforcement actions and disputes related to federal and state environmental laws.
  • Legal Research and Writing: Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda related to environmental law issues.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Advice: Advise clients on environmental compliance matters, interpreting and applying relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Environmental Transactions: Assist with environmental due diligence in real estate and corporate transactions, advising clients on potential risks and liabilities.
  • Remediation Representation: Manage the representation of clients in connection with sites requiring remedial action under federal and state laws, particularly CERCLA.
  • Government Negotiations: Engage with federal and state regulatory agencies on behalf of clients in enforcement proceedings and compliance-related disputes.
  • Client Management: Maintain strong relationships with clients through regular communication, providing timely updates and clear legal advice.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other attorneys and legal staff on case strategy, sharing knowledge and supporting the firm's overall environmental law practice.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in environmental law, with a focus on litigation, regulatory compliance, and enforcement matters.
  • Legal Expertise: In-depth exposure to federal and state environmental laws, with particular expertise in CERCLA, environmental transactions, compliance, and regulations.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex legal and regulatory requirements and apply them to various client issues.
  • Case Management: Proven ability to manage litigation and client matters related to environmental remediation and enforcement actions.
  • Admission: Must be admitted to practice law in the state of Ohio or be eligible for admission.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.): Degree from an accredited law school.
