Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney with a strong background in commercial litigation to join its San Antonio, TX office. This position offers the opportunity to handle high-stakes, complex cases within the construction law sector while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in commercial or construction law. The firm is committed to providing an environment where attorneys are supported in their professional growth and given flexibility with a hybrid work schedule.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee litigation files, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct mediations and manage settlement negotiations.
  • Directly interact with clients and opposing counsel, maintaining effective communication.
  • Represent clients in trials and arbitrations as both first and/or second chair.
  • Assist in the preparation and negotiation of construction contracts.
  • Prepare and manage mechanic’s lien and payment bond claims.
  • Evaluate, manage, and resolve claims and lawsuits in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial litigation, with a preference for experience in construction law or first-chair trial experience.
  • If the candidate’s litigation experience is in another area of law, the firm will provide support to transition into construction law.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be located in San Antonio or willing to relocate.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Texas Bar membership in good standing.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in litigation practices, including depositions, motions, and discovery.
  • Experience with commercial litigation and construction law preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
