Job Overview
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced associate to join its highly ranked Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation group. The successful candidate will work with a variety of clients, including publicly traded corporations, privately owned companies, financial institutions, and tax-exempt organizations, providing counsel on employee benefits and executive compensation issues. The role will focus on the design, implementation, and maintenance of retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, incentive plans, and more.

Duties

  • Advise clients on a broad range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and incentive plans.
  • Assist clients with ERISA fiduciary matters and the benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Draft, review, and analyze health and welfare benefit plans and qualified retirement plans.
  • Work closely with clients to design, implement, and maintain their employee benefit programs.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships while providing high-level legal counsel.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • Proven experience in analyzing health and welfare and qualified plan issues.
  • Experience in drafting health and welfare and qualified plans.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Knowledge of ERISA, tax-qualified retirement plans, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the jurisdiction of employment.

Skills

  • Expertise in employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
