A law firm is seeking a Real Estate Associate Attorney to join their team in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in real estate financing, lender representation, co-lender/intercreditor agreements, and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). The role requires a candidate who demonstrates excellent academic credentials, strong legal writing skills, and exceptional interpersonal abilities to work effectively with clients and colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle real estate financing transactions, including structuring and closing deals.
  • Represent lenders in complex real estate matters, including loan originations, modifications, and workouts.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate co-lender and intercreditor agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel on commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to real estate and financing transactions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders on transactional matters.
  • Perform thorough due diligence for real estate deals, including title, survey, and zoning review.
  • Draft and negotiate real estate documents, such as loan agreements, security instruments, guarantees, and leases.
  • Manage real estate litigation or dispute resolution, as needed, in coordination with the firm's litigation department.
  • Keep clients informed of legal developments and potential impacts on their transactions.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of North Carolina, or eligibility for admission.

Experience and Skills

  • 4-6 years of experience in real estate law, with an emphasis on real estate financing and lender representation.
  • Experience with co-lender/intercreditor agreements and CMBS transactions.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple real estate transactions concurrently, ensuring timely completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present legal concepts clearly.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with North Carolina real estate law and regulations is a plus.
