A law firm in Columbia, SC, is seeking an experienced Renewables Attorney. This role requires a seasoned attorney with substantial experience in counseling clients on various renewables projects, with a focus on facilities operations and power purchase agreements. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities, as well as smart grid and energy storage technologies. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to client service, effective interpersonal collaboration, and communication skills. A JD degree from an accredited law school and active Bar membership are required, along with a portable book of business.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on a range of renewables projects, focusing on facilities operations and power purchase agreements.
  • Advise clients on the development, financing, and operational aspects of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities.
  • Assist clients with smart grid technologies, energy storage solutions, and energy efficiency and demand-side management.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review contracts related to renewable energy projects, including power purchase agreements and operational agreements.
  • Manage complex legal issues and provide strategic advice to support clients' business objectives in the renewable energy sector.
  • Collaborate with clients, industry experts, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Maintain and develop a portable book of business to support the firm’s growth and client base.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory developments, and legal issues impacting the renewable energy sector.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality client service, effective communication, and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the Bar.
  • 10+ years of experience in renewable energy law.
  • Knowledge of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with smart grid technologies, energy storage, and energy efficiency and demand-side management.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and providing strategic legal counsel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
  • A portable book of business is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Bar of South Carolina or willingness to obtain.
