A law firm in Austin, TX, seeks an Employment Law Associate Attorney to join its highly regarded Employment Law Practice Group. The role involves providing representation and client advocacy primarily on behalf of management-side clients. The ideal candidate will handle a mix of transactional work, including drafting handbooks, employment agreements, and providing day-to-day counseling on employment law issues, as well as defending clients in litigation and administrative proceedings.

Job Duties:

  • Represent clients in employment law matters, including litigation, administrative proceedings, and transactional work.
  • Advise business and governmental entity clients on day-to-day employment law questions and compliance issues.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, handbooks, policies, and other employment-related documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis of case law, statutes, and regulations impacting clients.
  • Manage or assist with mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and support staff, providing guidance and training as needed.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
  • 3-6 years of experience in management-side employment law.
  • Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience with Westlaw or Lexis Nexis for legal research.
  • Preferred experience with hearings and trials.
  • Working knowledge or demonstrated interest in governmental entities is desirable.
