Senior Litigation Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Irvine, CA, seeks a Senior Litigation Attorney with extensive experience in complex civil litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling diverse litigation matters, including insurance, municipal/public entity, and construction litigation. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage all aspects of litigation independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee complex civil litigation matters from inception to resolution.
• Serve as the first chair in at least five jury trials, demonstrating proficiency in trial advocacy.
• Handle client communications, including consultations, updates, and strategy discussions.
• Draft and argue motions, including summary judgment and other dispositive motions.
• Conducted and defended depositions of key witnesses and experts.
• Draft discovery requests and responses, ensuring compliance with all procedural requirements.
• Attend court hearings, conferences, and other proceedings as required.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy.
• Mentor junior associates and collaborate with attorneys across different offices.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in complex civil litigation.
• Proven experience as first chair in five or more jury trials.
• Experience in insurance litigation, municipal/public entity litigation, and construction matters preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
