Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with a strong academic background and 3-5 years of experience in general business litigation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills and hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. An active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and execute various aspects of general business litigation cases from inception to resolution.
• Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
• Develop and implement litigation strategies and represent clients in court proceedings, including motions, depositions, and trials.
• Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates, gather information, and offer legal advice.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members to prepare for cases, including strategy meetings and case evaluations.
• Handle discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and conducting depositions.
• Prepare and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to business litigation.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations, working to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
• Maintain accurate and detailed case files, ensuring compliance with legal standards and deadlines.
• Track case progress and report regularly to clients and senior attorneys on case developments and strategies.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with legal trends and changes in business litigation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3-5 years of experience in general business litigation preferred.
• Strong academic background with a demonstrated record of excellence.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
• Exceptional analytical skills to assess complex legal issues and develop sound legal strategies.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear, persuasive, and accurate legal documents.
