Job Overview: A national law firm is seeking a mid-level Health Care Litigation Associate to join its expanding healthcare practice in the Charleston office. The role involves handling complex health care litigation cases, including compliance disputes, government and private payer reimbursement conflicts, and other legal matters related to the health care industry. The ideal candidate will have significant litigation experience, strong legal writing skills, and the ability to manage cases with minimal supervision. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with challenging cases and a collaborative team.

Duties:

  • Handle health care litigation matters, including government and private payer disputes
  • Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions
  • Engage in complex litigation, focusing on health care compliance and reimbursement issues
  • Represent clients in federal and state courts, with a preference for federal litigation experience
  • Conduct legal research and analysis of complex health care matters
  • Collaborate with team members to provide effective legal solutions for clients

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in health care litigation or complex litigation
  • Strong legal writing and research skills
  • Ability to handle complex subject matter with little supervision
  • Experience drafting motions, briefs, and preparing depositions
  • Federal litigation experience preferred
  • Experience in health care reimbursement compliance and defense is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active state bar admission (federal clerkship preferred)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in handling complex legal issues, particularly in the health care sector
