Job Title: Senior Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A leading law firm in Bakersfield, CA, seeks a highly experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to manage a diverse caseload and advocate for clients in a range of immigration matters. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a skilled team of legal professionals, including attorneys and legal assistants, to provide clients with effective legal representation and strategic solutions.

Duties:

  • Provide detailed explanations of immigration concepts and recommend strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent clients in immigration proceedings, including non-detained and detained individuals, in Immigration Court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and efficient progression.
  • Conduct intake interviews and consultations with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including those for removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and related documents as needed.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecution offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law developments.
  • Conduct client consultations to assess potential case strategies and outcomes.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimonies.
  • Provide thorough legal analyses to clients, assessing potential benefits for their cases.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Proven ability to manage legal cases efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with clients and team members.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR cases, detention cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS procedures.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in good standing.

  • Ability to communicate complex legal information clearly and empathetically.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to case development and client representation.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organization and time-management skills.
