Position Overview
Patent Agents are responsible for managing valuable patent assets and assessing patent risk for clients. This role involves a variety of patent-related activities, focusing on patent prosecution under the guidance of partners in the Intellectual Property sector.

Location

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties

  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients
  • Focus on patent filings
  • Draft responses to patent application rejections from the USPTO and other global Patent Offices
  • Collaborate with clients on innovative technologies to secure patent protection and build IP portfolios

Requirements

  • Proven ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workflows
  • Creative problem-solving skills with good judgment

Education

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in patent prosecution

Certifications

  • Registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Skills

  • Advanced writing and research skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Team player with flexibility in scheduling
  • Experience in battery technology or related fields is strongly preferred
