Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Dayton, OH, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Employee Benefits practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including ERISA-related issues, employee welfare plans, and M&A support. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to working with clients.

Duties:

  • Design, draft, and support a wide range of employee benefit plans, including defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs).
  • Guide executive compensation programs, welfare plans, and ERISA compliance.
  • Offer support and legal counsel on employee benefit issues during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Handle employee benefits-related disputes, including regulatory inquiries and litigation.
  • Advise clients on tax implications related to employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements.
  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction by providing clear, timely, and strategic legal advice.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience handling employee benefits, ERISA, and executive compensation matters.
  • Proven expertise in ESOP transactions and advising existing ESOPs.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, tax laws, and related legal frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to simplify complex legal issues.
  • A collaborative and client-focused mindset.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active State Bar membership (Ohio preferred).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits law, ERISA, and tax regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Client service-oriented approach with a focus on detail.
