Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join its team, with a focus on municipal and local government prosecution. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling criminal prosecutions of Class C misdemeanors, including traffic violations, assault, disorderly conduct, and more. This position offers a chance to work in a dynamic and impactful legal area, with a balance of court representation, legal research, and client interaction. Work-from-home flexibility is available.

Duties

  • Legal Research: Conduct research and analysis on various legal issues, with a focus on municipal law and criminal prosecution.
  • Document Drafting: Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and other required filings.
  • Court Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings and trials related to criminal prosecution of Class C misdemeanors and municipal ordinance violations.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate settlements and plea agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, providing legal advice and updates on case progress.
  • Depositions and Legal Proceedings: Attend and represent clients at depositions, hearings, and trials as required.
  • Caseload Management: Manage and prioritize a caseload, ensuring deadlines are met and cases are handled efficiently.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a law firm or similar legal setting.
  • Licensing: Admission to the state bar, with the ability to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction (must be in good standing).
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to independently manage a caseload while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications and Skills

  • Admission to the state bar in good standing.
  • Experience with criminal law, municipal law, or prosecution is preferred.
