Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its Insurance Coverage practice group. This position is ideal for an attorney with strong litigation skills, an aptitude for legal research, and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services. Location:

  • Portland, OR

Duties:

  • Conduct file reviews and provide legal analysis of insurance claims and causes of action
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial legal documents, including briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
  • Maintain an annual billable target of 1950 hours
  • Represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and during depositions
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests
  • Manage expert witness retention and collaboration
  • Assist in trial preparation and attend trials as needed
  • Occasional travel may be required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in insurance coverage preferred, but not required
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school
  • Admission to practice law in Oregon (admission to other states is a plus)
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to self-manage and collaborate in a team environment
  • Timely responsiveness to emails and phone inquiries
  • Exceptional client interaction and telephone skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar (additional state bar admissions are a plus)
