Duties

  • Assist employers with internal and external audits related to wage and hour compliance, pay practices, and leave and accommodation policies
  • Advise clients on compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws, including California Labor Code and FLSA
  • Support clients during investigations and audits by administrative agencies, including the California Labor Commissioner, U.S. Department of Labor, and local agencies
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Draft legal documents such as audit reports, legal opinions, and compliance strategies
  • Provide legal counsel on internal employment policies, employee classification, and leave practices
  • Handle litigation matters involving labor and employment issues, as needed
  • Stay updated on evolving labor and employment law, particularly in California

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on audits, investigations, and compliance
  • Significant experience assisting employers with audits and investigations conducted by administrative agencies
  • In-depth knowledge of California labor law, FLSA, and wage and hour regulations
  • Strong litigation experience, with the ability to manage complex employment-related cases
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Must be licensed to practice law in California

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the California State Bar
