Duties:

• Provide strategic guidance on complex immigration law matters and explain intricate concepts to clients.
• Represent clients, both detained and non-detained, in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
• Manage a high-volume caseload, ensuring timely and efficient case progression.
• Conduct client intake sessions at detention centers.
• Prepare and submit a range of immigration petitions, including removal defense and family-based immigration applications.
• Review immigration applications and make necessary revisions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay informed of changes in immigration law.
• Consult with potential clients, providing strategic guidance and determining appropriate legal strategies.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis and advice to clients to identify potential case benefits.
• Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5-8 years of experience practicing immigration law.
• Proven ability to manage and advance legal cases efficiently.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and strategize with colleagues.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian applications, EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) cases, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS-related matters.
• Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois.
