A law firm in Leesburg, VA, is seeking a Collections Associate Attorney with 2-8 years of legal practice experience, including experience with consumer collections and creditor’s rights. The ideal candidate will review and evaluate creditor claims, prepare complaints for filing in state courts, negotiate settlements, and counsel clients on options and remedies related to collections matters.

 

Duties:

  • Review and evaluate creditor claims, assessing risk.
  • Promptly review claims received by the firm.
  • Prepare and draft complaints for filing in state courts.
  • Efficiently manage caseload and work with staff to move files effectively.
  • Draft motions for judgment and other legal motions as needed.
  • Negotiate and review settlements with debtors.
  • Enforce post-judgment remedies as necessary.
  • Counsel clients on collections options and remedies.
  • Perform legal research and communicate results effectively, both verbally and in writing.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the VA State Bar.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of files efficiently.
  • Strong research skills and ability to communicate results effectively.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the VA State Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Experience with consumer collections and creditor’s rights.
  • Ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
