A law firm seeks a skilled and driven Immigration Attorney to join their legal team in Bakersfield, CA. This position offers the opportunity for an associate attorney with 1-4 years of experience to contribute to a rapidly growing practice. The role provides a chance to develop your legal career, manage a diverse caseload, and engage directly with clients, all while working within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal guidance on immigration matters and develop strategic solutions for clients
  • Represent clients in immigration proceedings, including removal cases before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a variety of immigration cases, ensuring timely progress and adherence to deadlines
  • Conduct client intake interviews with detained individuals at local detention centers
  • Draft and file immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense documents
  • Review and adjust immigration case files to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, government agencies, and community organizations on matters affecting immigration law
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients to evaluate their immigration needs and recommend appropriate legal strategies
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS testimony
  • Perform detailed legal analysis to identify potential benefits for clients in their cases
  • Draft and file legal briefs, motions, and other necessary documents for a wide range of immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively while maintaining high standards of legal service
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to clearly communicate complex legal concepts
  • Experience with family-based immigration petitions, humanitarian applications, EOIR proceedings, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS forms
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus
  • A proactive, collaborative team player who enjoys working with colleagues to strategize and solve complex legal issues

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the state bar (California preferred)

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures
  • Strong research, writing, and legal drafting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
