Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its expanding Intellectual Property Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in patent prosecution, including patent search, analysis, application drafting, filing, and portfolio management. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of patents, with a focus on industries such as mechanical, biomedical, and medical devices. Litigation experience is a plus but not required.

Location:

  • Frederick, MD

Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution across multiple industries
  • Conduct patent searches and provide detailed analysis
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Oversee patent portfolio management and provide strategic IP counsel
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and protect their intellectual property
  • Optional involvement in patent-related litigation

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Knowledge of patent law, prosecution procedures, and patent office protocols
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices (preferred)
  • Litigation experience (a plus, but not required)
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
