Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Salinas, CA, is seeking a skilled Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The attorney will manage a caseload, represent clients in criminal proceedings, provide legal advice, and collaborate with the firm's Criminal Defense Team.

Duties:

• Report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and manage a caseload independently.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings and represent clients in court proceedings.
• Manage court appearances, trials, and other legal proceedings.
• Draft motions, interview witnesses, and conduct legal research.
• Analyze potential case outcomes based on legal precedents and advise clients accordingly.
• Manage workload effectively and prioritize cases based on urgency and complexity.
• Provide legal analysis to clients to assess potential case benefits.
• Gather additional evidence and information to support clients' cases.
• Prepare clients for depositions and strategize case goals with witness and expert input.
• Handle complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal assistants in the Criminal Defense Team.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience practicing criminal defense law.
• Proven experience handling complex criminal cases at various levels.
• Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
