Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Associate to join their nationally recognized Mass Torts and Industry-Wide Litigation team. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex toxic tort and chemical exposure cases, collaborating with a dynamic team across multiple offices. The role will involve significant client interaction, research, discovery management, and courtroom appearances, offering exposure to high-profile cases and industry leaders.

Duties:

  • Conduct research on legal, medical, and scientific issues related to toxic tort cases
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop defense strategies
  • Take and defend depositions in various jurisdictions
  • Manage discovery and e-discovery processes
  • Draft reports, client memoranda, pleadings, motions, and briefs, focusing on complex motion practice
  • Participate in trial and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) preparation
  • Represent clients during courtroom appearances and conferences
  • Maintain a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in chemical exposure/toxic tort cases
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership and good standing with the bar
  • Admission to New York is required; admission to Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Jersey preferred (or ability to waive into NJ)
  • Strong experience in depositions, motions, pleadings, and e-discovery
  • Familiarity with Zoom, MS Teams, and other video conferencing tools
  • Ability to travel for depositions and court conferences, including overnight stays as necessary
  • Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload effectively
  • Ability to absorb and understand new information quickly
  • Professional, cooperative, and flexible attitude
  • Military experience is welcomed

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in New York (Required)
  • Admission to Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey (Preferred or ability to waive into NJ)
