Job Overview
This role is ideal for an experienced immigration attorney with a strong background in handling diverse immigration cases. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload, representing clients in removal proceedings, and advising individuals on various immigration matters. Duties

  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice on immigration issues
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective handling of each matter
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers
  • Prepare and file various immigration petitions, including removal defense and family-based applications
  • Review and revise immigration applications for accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, community-based organizations, and prosecutorial offices to stay informed about immigration law changes
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients, assess cases, and develop tailored legal strategies
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
  • Draft and submit legal briefs in support of immigration cases

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively and move cases forward
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well within a team
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship, and USCIS applications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
  • Experience with case management software is a plus

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to the State Bar (California preferred)

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in California

Skills

  • Expertise in immigration law and procedures
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to think critically and devise creative solutions to complex legal issues
  • Excellent client-facing skills with a compassionate approach
