Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal defense proceedings before EOIR and USCIS, advocating for relief such as asylum, cancellation of removal, and waivers.
  • Lead legal strategy development for complex immigration cases, including managing client interviews and evidence gathering.
  • Conduct legal research, including working with country condition experts, and preparing motions, briefs, and appeals.
  • Provide top-tier client service throughout the immigration process, ensuring clear communication and support.
  • Draft and file detailed legal documents, including motions, appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and related filings.
  • Manage and mentor a team of legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, documenting all legal processes in compliance with firm protocols.
  • Work directly with government agencies like ICE, DHS, and EOIR to facilitate case progress and secure client relief.

Requirements:

  • Active law license in good standing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in removal defense with a focus on asylum and other forms of relief.
  • A minimum of 30 Individual Calendar Hearings (ICHs) handled, with significant experience in asylum cases.
  • Strong courtroom presence and ability to manage high-pressure legal environments.
  • Proven experience in drafting compelling motions, appeals, and legal briefs.
  • Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing legal teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to high-quality documentation.
  • Spanish language proficiency is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active State Bar membership in good standing.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law, specifically in removal defense, and asylum.
