A law firm is seeking a Mid-Senior Level Patent Litigation Associate Attorney for their San Francisco office. The candidate will work closely with clients to remove obstacles, helping them stay ahead of changing patent laws and judicial decisions. Provide solutions for navigating around competitors’ patents, extracting value from their intellectual property while protecting their assets.

 

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence for use in state and federal court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
  • Draft and respond to complex discovery requests.
  • Confer, negotiate, and communicate with opposing counsel.
  • Prepare for, defend, and conduct depositions.
  • Prepare for trial, including preparing exhibit lists, evidentiary objections, motions in limine, and witness preparation.
  • Prepare Federal Circuit appeal briefs.
  • Supervise and train junior associates.

 

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of patent litigation experience.
  • Significant experience with drafting and responding to pleadings.
  • Experience preparing infringement and invalidity claim charts.
  • Experience with Markman and claim construction proceedings.
  • Experience with patent-specific fact and expert discovery.
  • Experience with inter partes reviews and overall litigation strategy.

 

Education:

  • USPTO admission.
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or substantial experience litigating matters in these or similar disciplines.

 

Certifications:

USPTO admission.

 

Skills:

  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Superb judgment and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent client services.
