A law firm seeks an experienced and driven Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing team in San Francisco, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent litigation, with a preference for candidates who have a technology-focused academic background, such as electrical engineering or computer science. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-stakes patent cases while collaborating with a dynamic team of professionals. As a key player in the litigation process, you will handle a range of responsibilities, from trial preparation to technical analysis, and work on behalf of innovative clients across industries.

Duties:

  • Lead and assist in preparing and litigating patent cases, including managing discovery, preparing motions, and representing clients at hearings.
  • Conduct Markman hearings and collaborate on developing litigation strategies.
  • Perform technical analysis on products and patents to support case development.
  • Work with expert witnesses to gather and present evidence in support of litigation.
  • Conduct and defend depositions to gather testimony and evidence.
  • Draft legal pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Maintain communication with clients and team members, ensuring all aspects of the case are managed efficiently.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in patent law and the technology industry.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in patent litigation, with experience in district court and/or before the International Trade Commission (ITC).
  • A technology background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong experience in patent trial preparation, discovery management, and litigation strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and experts in complex matters.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to or eligible for admission to the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on technical analysis and litigation strategy.
  • Proficiency in patent law, including experience in the preparation and trial of patent disputes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
