Duties:

  • Clearly explain immigration laws and options, proposing strategic solutions for clients
  • Represent clients, both detained and non-detained, in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Handle a personal caseload, ensuring case progress and successful client interactions
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention facilities as needed
  • Prepare a variety of immigration applications, focusing on removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and packets
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations on immigration law updates
  • Consult with potential clients to develop case strategies and identify necessary legal actions
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony in court or with USCIS
  • Perform legal analyses to identify possible benefits for clients’ cases
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience practicing Immigration Law
  • Strong interpersonal and team-oriented skills, with a collaborative approach
  • Proven ability to manage caseloads effectively and keep legal matters progressing
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained individuals, citizenship applications, and other USCIS applications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar (active)

Certifications:

  • Active State Bar membership in good standing

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle high-stakes cases with confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Detail-oriented and skilled in legal research and case preparation
