A law firm in Columbus is seeking a dedicated Immigration Associate Attorney with 1-4 years of experience in employment-based immigration law. The role focuses on preparing nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions, advising on long-term immigration strategies for clients and their global workforce, and navigating complex I-9 and E-Verify employment verification rules. Strong project management skills and effective communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

Duties:

  • Preparation of nonimmigrant visa petitions (such as H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, E-2, TN, O-1) and immigrant visa applications (including PERM, I-140, and I-485).
  • Advising clients on employment-based immigration strategies and compliance issues.
  • Assisting clients in obtaining temporary work visas for foreign nationals and securing lawful permanent residence (green cards).
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on immigration law issues.
  • Managing client relationships and providing high-quality client service.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on immigration matters and team projects.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a nationally recognized and accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar of Ohio.
  • 1-4 years of experience practicing employment-based immigration law.
  • Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in immigration law.
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective and persuasive writing and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with I-9 and E-Verify compliance and audits.
  • Familiarity with global immigration issues and international mobility.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented approach to reviewing legal documents and preparing visa applications.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in preparing and filing immigration petitions and applications.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide strategic advice.
  • Strong client service orientation with a proactive and collaborative work style.
  • Fluency in languages other than English (desired but not required).

Certifications:

  • Certification in Immigration Law (preferred but not required).
  • Any relevant certifications related to employment-based immigration (desired).
