A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Estate Planning Attorney to join its team in Birmingham, Michigan. This role is focused on providing comprehensive legal support in estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate litigation, and tax law. The ideal candidate will contribute to a collaborative environment while delivering high-quality legal services to clients.

Duties:

  • Offer expert legal counsel in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, probate litigation, and tax law.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze both routine and intricate estate planning and tax-related issues to create effective client strategies.
  • Draft and review essential legal documents, including wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, and patient advocate designations.
  • Prepare income tax returns for individuals, corporations, and fiduciary entities.
  • Represent clients in disputes related to estates and trusts, as well as in tax audits.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver integrated legal and financial solutions for clients.
  • Stay abreast of developments in estate planning techniques and tax legislation to provide current and accurate advice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in the Michigan State Bar.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate litigation, or tax law.
  • Strong understanding of estate planning methods, probate processes, trust administration, and applicable federal and state tax regulations.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, capable of explaining complex legal concepts clearly to clients.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high accuracy in document preparation.
  • Ability to thrive independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding setting.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar (required).
