A well-established law firm in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Associate Attorney. The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and be responsible for handling a caseload, client interactions, and collaborating with a skilled team of legal professionals.

Location:

  • Bakersfield, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents related to their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide strategic advice after each hearing.
  • Manage court appearances, trials, motion drafting, interviewing witnesses, and conducting legal research.
  • Analyze potential outcomes of cases based on legal precedents and case facts.
  • Manage a diverse caseload and ensure timely and effective case management.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients regarding the potential benefits of their cases.
  • Gather evidence to support clients' cases and challenge prosecution charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and develop case strategies, including obtaining information from witnesses and experts.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in criminal defense.
  • Experience handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with associates and legal staff.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of criminal defense law and legal procedures.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and courtroom presence.
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
