Duties

  • Evaluate new workers' compensation claims and establish appropriate action plans, budgets, and recommendations.
  • Review and identify pleading requirements, delegating tasks to paralegals as necessary.
  • Draft discovery responses, manage document production, and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Attend depositions, hearings, and other discovery events, preparing detailed reports for the team.
  • Negotiate settlements, secure approval for settlements, and assist in preparing cases for trial when necessary.
  • Maintain consistent communication with legal assistants and paralegals to ensure efficient case progression.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience in workers' compensation law or a similar practice area.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing with the state bar.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn new database management systems.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
