Insurance Coverage Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Coverage Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience in insurance coverage litigation or relevant legal practice and be licensed to practice in Virginia. Duties

• Review and assess new files to create strategic action plans and set practical budgets.
• Identify necessary pleadings, delegating tasks to paralegals and legal assistants as needed.
• Draft and prepare discovery responses, ensuring proper document management throughout the litigation process.
• Represent clients in depositions, hearings, and discovery events, providing detailed reports.
• Negotiate settlements and work with clients to secure the necessary authority, while preparing for trial as needed.
• Maintain effective and ongoing communication with internal teams to ensure smooth case progression and timely resolutions.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance coverage litigation or similar legal fields.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Virginia.
• Prior insurance defense experience is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively work with clients and colleagues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with legal database management systems is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a collaborative team-oriented approach.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications
