Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its expanding Intellectual Property Practice Group. This role is ideal for an attorney with at least three years of experience in patent prosecution, including patent searches, analysis, drafting, and filing applications, as well as portfolio management. Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices is a plus. Litigation experience is beneficial but not a requirement.

Location:

  • Timonium, MD

Duties:

  • Handle patent prosecution across various industries
  • Conduct patent searches and provide analysis to support IP strategies
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Manage patent portfolios and provide intellectual property counseling
  • Collaborate with clients to assess and protect their intellectual property
  • Optional involvement in patent-related litigation

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Comprehensive knowledge of patent law and prosecution procedures
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices (preferred)
  • Litigation experience (a plus, but not required)
  • Strong client communication and relationship management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
