Litigation Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Attorney to join their team in Omaha, NE. The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of relevant experience and a strong background in various areas of litigation, including medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, workers’ compensation, employment law, general commercial or civil litigation, and personal injury. This role demands a proactive, detail-oriented professional with excellent communication and writing skills, capable of handling complex litigation matters and first-chair jury trials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation from inception through trial and appeals.
• Handle a diverse caseload with litigation matters in medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, commercial litigation, workers’ compensation, employment law, and personal injury.
• Depose and defend facts and expert witnesses effectively.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Develop and implement case strategies and litigation plans.
• Prepare for and conduct first-chair jury trials.
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation and arbitration.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to provide comprehensive legal services.
• Stay current with developments in the law and attend continuing legal education (CLE) programs.

Requirements:

• 6-10 years of relevant litigation experience.
• Proven experience in two or more areas: medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, workers’ compensation, employment law, general commercial or civil litigation, and personal injury.
• Experience deposing and defending facts and expert witnesses.
• First-chair jury trial experience is mandatory.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
• Ability to manage a high volume of cases and meet deadlines.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Nebraska or eligible for admission to the Nebraska Bar soon.
