Job Overview: A distinguished legal recruitment firm is seeking a skilled Municipal Attorney to join a respected law firm in Fresno, CA. This role involves providing legal services to public agencies, including city officials and government departments, to address complex legal issues related to local governance, public safety, labor and employment, environmental regulations, and public contracting. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to public service and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with municipal law, with the opportunity to shape the legal landscape of local governments and communities.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to public agencies on a wide range of municipal matters, including public safety, labor and employment, land use, and governance
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations such as the Public Records Act, CEQA, and public contracting laws
  • Represent public entities in legal proceedings, negotiations, and public hearings
  • Draft and review contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents
  • Advise city officials and government agencies on policy matters, public works, and risk management
  • Collaborate with various government departments to address legal challenges and develop strategies for public agencies
  • Engage in professional development and mentorship opportunities within the firm

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with public agencies and municipal law
  • Strong understanding of local government law, public safety, labor and employment, environmental law, and public contracting
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues and provide strategic advice to public entities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active California Bar membership (required)

Skills:

  • Expertise in municipal law and public agency legal matters
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
