Job Overview:
An established law firm is seeking a highly motivated Associate Remote Immigration Attorney to join its team. This is a remote position for an attorney located in Puerto Rico, offering a unique opportunity for growth and career development. The Associate Attorney will manage their own caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a skilled team of immigration attorneys and legal assistants.

Location:

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and provide strategic solutions
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings at Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage and move forward a caseload of immigration cases
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Review immigration application packets and make necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine case strategies
  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to identify case benefits
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law
  • Ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS filings
  • Experience with case management software is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in Puerto Rico

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Effective communication with clients and team members
  • Ability to develop legal strategies and manage complex cases
  • Proficient in using case management software
  • Excellent advocacy skills in immigration law
