A law firm in Portland, OR, is seeking an Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney with 2 to 6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of insurance coverage issues under professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. The role requires extensive experience in civil litigation, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, managing all facets of discovery and discovery motion practice, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court appearances. Experience in business development, client management, and independent case management is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate excellent academic credentials and superior research and writing abilities.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on complex insurance coverage issues related to professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, dispositive motions, and other litigation-related materials.
  • Oversee all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, coordinating document production, and addressing discovery disputes.
  • Conduct depositions and represent clients in various court proceedings, including hearings and trials.
  • Develop and execute case strategies, ensuring effective management and resolution of insurance and reinsurance disputes.
  • Participate in business development efforts to attract and retain clients, including networking and client outreach.
  • Maintain and enhance client relationships through proactive communication and high-quality service delivery.
  • Stay informed about changes in insurance and reinsurance law, as well as industry trends and best practices.

Requirements:

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies.
  • Proven experience in drafting legal documents, managing discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court.
  • Preferred experience in business development, client management, and independent case management.
  • Excellent academic credentials with a strong record in research and writing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar or eligibility to practice in Oregon.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex insurance and reinsurance litigation effectively.
