A law firm in Denver, CO, is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Associate Attorney to oversee regulatory aspects related to the development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation of energy projects nationwide. The role will primarily focus on power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, grid and transmission issues, with a special emphasis on the renewable energy sector.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis pertaining to FERC electricity regulations.
  • Draft and review power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and other project documents.
  • Provide legal guidance on regulatory compliance for energy projects.
  • Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.

 

Requirements:

  • 4-8 years of legal experience in FERC electricity regulations.
  • Exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions.
  • Strong understanding of energy law and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar in Colorado (preferred).

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting legal documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex regulatory issues and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy industry practices and trends.
