Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Family Law Attorney to join its client-centered legal team in Houston, Texas. This position offers an opportunity to handle a wide range of family law cases, working directly with clients to guide them through sensitive legal matters with professionalism, care, and strategic advocacy. The ideal candidate will have substantial courtroom experience, exceptional legal drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage cases independently while collaborating with an in-office legal team.

This position is designed for attorneys who excel in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about helping clients navigate the complexities of Texas family law.

Duties

  • Manage a diverse caseload involving divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property division, modifications, and enforcement matters.
  • Represent clients at hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and discovery responses, ensuring compliance with Texas family law statutes and local court rules.
  • Provide sound legal advice to clients, fostering trust and confidence through clear communication and compassionate guidance.
  • Engage in negotiation and settlement discussions, working toward favorable resolutions when possible.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to ensure cases are handled efficiently and deadlines are met.
  • Maintain organized case files and accurate client communication records.
  • Stay current on developments in Texas family law to provide informed legal counsel and effective representation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of family law experience, including litigation and trial work, specifically in Texas courts.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas, in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • Strong understanding of Texas family law statutes, court procedures, and legal best practices.
  • Proven courtroom skills, including the ability to present evidence, examine witnesses, and argue motions.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client relations skills, with the ability to empathize while maintaining professionalism and objectivity.
  • Highly organized, with excellent time management and attention to detail.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • Texas Board Certification in Family Law (preferred but not required).
