Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Law Attorney to provide strategic counsel on a range of employment-related legal matters. This senior-level role requires a highly skilled attorney who can independently handle employment law issues, collaborate within a legal team, and contribute to client development. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience advising management-side clients on employment law concerns. While labor law experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory. Litigation experience is a strong plus.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on human resources challenges and compliance matters.

  • Handle claims and disputes filed with federal, state, and local agencies and courts.

  • Advise clients on employment-related legal topics, including:

    • Equal employment opportunity (EEO) issues.

    • Wage and hour laws at both state and federal levels.

    • Compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws.

    • Reasonable accommodations and other employment-related policies.

  • Conduct workplace investigations and deliver training sessions on employment law matters.

  • Draft position statements, pleadings, legal motions, and other relevant documents.

  • Offer strategic legal advice and risk assessments to businesses on employment issues.

  • Work with existing clients while also developing new client relationships to expand the firm’s practice.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in employment law, advising employers.

  • Strong ability to work independently without direct supervision while remaining part of a collaborative legal team.

  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and advocacy skills.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Prior litigation experience is highly desirable.

  • Labor law experience is a plus but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Maryland.
