Job Overview:
A law firm is looking for a talented and experienced Patent Agent to join their intellectual property team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, responding to office actions, preparing opinions, and conducting prior art searches. Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and bioengineering technologies
  • Respond to office actions and coordinate with clients to ensure timely and effective responses
  • Assist in preparing patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze results
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop strategic patent portfolios
  • Stay updated on trends and developments in patent law and medical device innovations

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent, specifically in medical devices or bioengineering
  • Expertise in mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence (A.I.), computer science, or related fields is a plus
  • Strong understanding of patent law and USPTO procedures
  • Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is required

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
