Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute life sciences patents, including drafting patent applications and responding to office actions.
  • Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement analyses.
  • Collaborate with clients and legal teams to develop patent strategies and provide expert advice on patent issues.
  • Analyze scientific literature and research to support patent claims and defense.
  • Manage patent portfolios and maintain up-to-date records of patent applications and issued patents.
  • Coordinate with inventors and technical experts to gather necessary information for patent filings.
  • Stay current with developments in patent law and life sciences to provide informed legal counsel.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in life sciences patent preparation and prosecution.
  • An advanced degree in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, chemical engineering, or a related field is required (Ph.D. preferred).
  • Must possess excellent writing skills and strong academic and work credentials.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the United States.

Education:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Member of the Bar in the United States.

Skills:

  • Proficient in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex scientific and legal documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property law and life sciences technologies.
