Civil Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a highly motivated Civil Litigation Associate to join its team in Washington, DC. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with prior judicial clerkship or private law firm experience who are looking to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of civil litigation, from case inception to trial. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in depositions, discovery, motions practice, and a commitment to delivering exceptional legal services.

Location:

• Washington, DC

Duties:

• Handle all aspects of civil litigation, including depositions, motions, hearings, mediations, and trial
• Manage case preparation from inception through completion
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and discovery
• Attend and assist in depositions and hearings
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties
• Maintain and manage a busy caseload efficiently

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of judicial clerkship experience or 1-3 years of private law firm experience
• Experience in depositions, discovery, and motions practice
• Strong academic credentials
• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload
• Licensed to practice in VA or MD, as well as DC (must be willing to become licensed in DC within one year)
• Additional licenses in NY, NJ, or WV are a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in VA or MD (must be licensed in DC or willing to obtain within a year)
