Job Title: Patent Prosecution And Litigation Patent Agent

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking to add a skilled Patent Agent to its dynamic Patent Prosecution & Litigation team. The firm is seeking someone with expertise in Electrical Engineering, Software, or Mechanical disciplines to assist in patent prosecution and litigation matters. The position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal challenges while contributing to a highly collaborative team.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for electrical engineering, software, or mechanical innovations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to strategize and execute patent filings.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze the results to ensure patentability.
  • Review and advise clients on patent portfolios and provide guidance on patent litigation.
  • Prepare responses to office actions, such as rejections and objections from the USPTO.
  • Assist in litigation-related tasks, including discovery and patent claim analysis.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent laws, trends, and USPTO guidelines.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications.
  • Proficient in patent prosecution procedures and USPTO regulations.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (e.g., Physics or Mathematics).
  • Experience in handling intellectual property matters beyond patents is a plus.
  • Must be registered with the USPTO.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) are advantageous.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is required.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of patent prosecution and patent law.
  • Strong technical background in Electrical Engineering, Software, or Mechanical disciplines.
