Duties:

  • Provide strategic guidance and legal advice to clients on immigration-related matters
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a diverse caseload efficiently while ensuring timely progress and communication
  • Conduct intake meetings with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and file immigration applications including removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Review and make adjustments to immigration application packets as needed
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on legal updates and initiatives
  • Meet with clients to discuss their immigration needs, offering tailored strategies
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimonies
  • Conduct legal analysis to identify potential benefits and outcomes for clients' cases
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in immigration law
  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues
  • Ability to manage a caseload efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Law, EOIR, Detained cases, and USCIS applications is desirable
  • Proficiency with case management software is a plus
  • High interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse client groups

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in the state of Illinois

Skills:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical abilities
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills
  • High-level professionalism and client-focused attitude
