Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated and motivated Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its team. This role offers a unique opportunity for a newly admitted attorney to gain hands-on experience in immigration law, including removal defense, family-based immigration, and humanitarian applications. The position involves direct client interaction, legal research, case preparation, and representation in court proceedings. Duties

  • Advise clients on immigration options, procedures, and legal strategies.
  • Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in immigration court proceedings and before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring timely preparation and filing of immigration applications.
  • Conduct client intakes and visits at detention centers.
  • Prepare and review immigration applications, including petitions for family-based immigration, asylum, and removal defense.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and supporting documents for various immigration cases.
  • Work collaboratively with law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and prosecutors on immigration-related matters.
  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration law and apply relevant legal developments to case strategies.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in immigration law.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with a legal team and contribute to case strategy discussions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, removal defense, and USCIS applications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal advocacy skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
