Mid-Senior Level Patent Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm in Albany, NY is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Senior Level Patent Litigation Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of patent litigation experience, including significant experience with drafting and responding to pleadings, preparing infringement and invalidity claim charts, and managing complex patent-related matters. This role requires expertise in various stages of litigation, strong academic credentials, and exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and file pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence for use in state and federal courts, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
• Draft and respond to complex discovery requests.
• Confer, negotiate, and communicate effectively with opposing counsel.
• Prepare for, defend, and conduct depositions.
• Prepare for trial, including creating exhibit lists, evidentiary objections, motions in limine, and witness preparation.
• Prepare and file Federal Circuit appeal briefs.
• Supervise and train junior associates.
• Develop and execute overall litigation strategies, including preparing infringement and invalidity claim charts, Markman and claim construction proceedings, and managing patent-specific fact and expert discovery.
• Handle inter partes reviews and other patent litigation matters.
• Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients, ensuring excellent client service.

Requirements:

• 6-8 years of experience in patent litigation.
• Significant experience with drafting and responding to pleadings.
• Experience preparing infringement and invalidity claim charts, and handling Markman and claim construction proceedings.
• Expertise in patent-specific fact and expert discovery.
• Experience with inter partes reviews and overall litigation strategy.
• Patent trial experience is a plus.
• USPTO admission is highly desired.
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or substantial experience litigating matters in these or similar disciplines.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is highly desired.

Certifications:

• Admission to the State Bar of New York.
• USPTO admission is highly desired.
